Nanchang Hangkong University Foreign Students’ Scholarship Assessment Criteria and Methods

In order to encourage all international students in our university to study hard, go to class punctually, participate in school activities enthusiastically and obey the university regulations well, meanwhile to attract more excellent new overseas potential students to come to study in our university, the university decides to allot five percent of the total amount of the tuition fee paid by the students to set up Nanchang Hangkong University Foreign Students’ Scholarship to sponsor the excellent international students. The scholarship will be assessed and awarded only once at the end of each year. The university will judge and assess every student’s grades and daily performance for scholarship fairly, justly and transparently. The scholarship money of the winners will be deposited into their ICBC bank cards.  

Category of Scholarship

The Nanchang Hangkong University Foreign Students’ Scholarship is classified into: 

First-class scholarship, with money being RMB 5000 Yuan

Second-class scholarship, with money being RMB 3000 Yuan

Third-class scholarship, with money being RMB 2000 Yuan

The university distributes the scholarship money to each class mainly depending on the number of students in this class. The more students this class has, the more money as scholarship it can receive from the university. The number of first -class, or second-class or third-class scholarship will be determined in each class in accordance with its circumstances and the amount money it receives. In principle there shall be the first-class scholarship in one class only if this class has more than 20 students.

2. Eligibility:

1) Non first-year students have the qualifications for this scholarship, including second-year, third-year and fourth-year students.. 

2) First-year students will not be provided this scholarship. They can apply for Jiangxi Government Scholarship for International Students.

3) Chinese government scholarship students are not permitted to get this scholarship.

4) Students who have already obtained some kind of scholarship or financial support from different levels of Chinese governments or enterprises etc. are not allowed to give this scholarship.

3. Requirements and methods 

a)Basic requirements: 

A winner should obey the Chinese law and the university regulations. Those who violate Chinese law or the university regulations and get punished or be given disciplinary punishment by Chinese authorities or the university are not eligible for this scholarship (from last academic year until now)

A winner should attend the class punctually. Those whose attendance is lower than that of half of the students in his class don’t have eligibility to get this scholarship. (until last academic year )

A winner should finish paying all the fees. Those who have still been in arrears with the university fees don’t have qualification for this scholarship.( until December 4th).

A winner should participate in all activities organized by the university. If you are considered a student who positively participates in activities by the university, you will be prioritized in getting this scholarship at the same condition.(until now)

b)Methods:

The academic records are decisive factors.

If a student can meet the above-mentioned the basic requirements, the academic records are the major factors which determine who can obtain the scholarship. Whether a student can obtain the scholarship or what kind class of scholarship will be decided by his total grades of last academic year (last two semesters). The scholarship will be awarded to the students according to the ranking of their total grades of last two semesters in the class.

The university will check every student’s attendance, fee payment and grades etc as requested above and publish the check results on the Bulletin Board. If a student has doubts, he can go to the International Students’ Office to verify them.

If there is no student in one class who can meet the above-mentioned, the scholarships will be cancelled.

The university will publicize the candidates judged by all the results on Bulletin Board.

5. Publication

The university will form an assessment group to check and assess scholarship-related materials and publicize the final winners on the bulletin board to accept the supervision by the public. After that without much complaint we will submit the name list of the students who will obtain the scholarships or awards to the university authority to get final approval.

For the year 2015, the number of scholarships has been distributed to each class as following table:

Class1122L1 has five students who will succeed in applying for Type A and Type C of Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students and Class 1122L2 has 3 students who will be successful applicants. Therefore 5 students and 3 students should be reduced from the number of the students of each class respectively. Those who have succeeded applying for Type A and Type C scholarship don’t have qualification to get this scholarship.
