Application for 2015 Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students and Assessment Methods
Jiangxi Provincial Government sets up Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students to attract more outstanding international students to come to study in the universities and increase the number of the international students in Jiangxi Province and enhance Jiangxi’s international reputation, and the number of the scholarships has already been distributed to each eligible university including Nanchang Hangkong University.
1. Category of Scholarship
The scholarship is divided into three categories: Type A Scholarship, 25000RMB for each winner, provided to sponsor international students studying for doctoral and master degrees; Type B Scholarship, 20000RMB for each student, used to sponsor international students for bachelor’s degree and Type C Scholarship, 6000RMB, used to fund visiting scholars or other foreign students who will study or are studying in the university for at least half a year. The number of scholarships has been distributed to our university as follows:
a)One Type A Scholarship plus one left from last year, total two.
b)Sixteen Type B Scholarships.
c)Four Type C Scholarships plus two from left last year, total six
Use of Scholarship
In accordance with the stipulations concerning Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students, the university authority has decided:
1) Type A Scholarship tends to be given to our graduate applicants.
The university encourages our fourth-year undergraduates to apply for Type A Scholarship to continue their study for master’s degree in our university.
The master program will start next September and will be taught bilingually.
The students should join in Short-term Chinese Language Program starting next March to learn Chinese language and culture for half a year.
For Chinese Language and Culture program, the students should pay four thousand RMB.
The applicants should have excellent academic records and haven’t owed the university any money(until December 4th).
2) Type C Scholarship tends to be given to our graduate applicants.
Next March the university will start Short-term Chinese Language and Culture program. The program will last half a year and all the fees will be 10000 RMB.
The university encourages our fourth-year students to apply for Type C scholarships to study Chinese language.
A. The applicants should be excellent in every aspect and have no arrears(until December 4th ) .
B. The applicants must promise that their attendance in future classes will be no less than 70 percent.
C. If a applicant succeeds in applying for scholarship, he should pay 4000RMB immediately, otherwise the university will cancel his qualification.
▲Deadline for application for Type A and Type C Scholarship will last until December4th.
▲If there are too many eligible applicants, the university will determine the winners according to their grades and performance during their four-year stay in the university.
3) Type B scholarships shall be awarded to the freshmen, i.e. the first-year students. Please read the following Criteria and Method

3. Criteria and Method for Type B scholarships
In 2015 we admitted only 35 self-financed bachelor’s degree program students with 3 batches, the first one coming to the university in March, the second one in June and the third one in September. For the third batch, the university decided that every student would be granted Type B Scholarship when the university admitted them.
They are:
For the other firs-year students who wish to gain this scholarship from the rest six seats, they shall take the exams, and their daily performance will be referred to.
The university will organize a math and an English exam to test the candidates’ capability and the results will be major criteria for determining scholarship awarding. The tests will be held during the first week of December. If a student misses the chance, he should be responsible for it himself.
2). Daily performance in term of obeying the university regulations and participating activities will be examined carefully from the day they entered the university.
A. The students should have paid all the fees to the university .If a student has still owed the university money; the university will cancel his qualification (until December4th).
B. The students shall go to class punctually and the daily attendance should be no less than 70 percent. The attendance will be counted from the day they attended the first class of each course.
C. The students shall respect the teachers and administrators, and be friendly to and get along with other students.
D .Applicants should participate in different activities organized by the university.
If you are the first year student and you don’t owe the university money and your attendance must be more than 70 percent, whether you can get a scholarship or not will depend upon your test grades.
In the same situation those who participated in activities during the past time and helped the administrators deal with the issues related to foreign students will be prioritized..
In order to attract some outstanding overseas students to study in our university, from 2016 all types of Jiangxi government scholarship will be directly offered to the outstanding applicants when they apply to study in Nanchang Hangkong University. If there aren’t some scholarships left, the scholarship exam will not exist.
Application and documents:
After you are selected as a winner, you must
1).Fill in Application Form for Jiangxi Government Scholarship. You can get the form from the International Students’ Office.
2). Provide the copy of your passport
3). Provide the copy of your health examination
4). Write a Study Plan in China
5) Provide the copies of notarized highest school graduate certificates or diploma and notarized transcripts
The applicants must submit all this documents to the International Students’ Office before December 10th
5. Use of Scholarship money
The scholarship money will be deposited into the winners’ bank cards and the students shall use it to pay for registration fee, tuition fee, accommodation fee, fee for basic learning materials, fee for internship; and to buy Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme, and living cost. If any winner is found using the money for illegal act or waste the money going to the bar or excessive drinking, etc, the scholarship shall be confiscated. For the winners of Type A or Type B Scholarship, they have to deposit the scholarship money into the university account to pay all the fees needed for further study when they get this money.
6. Selection and publication
The university will form an assessment group to assess all the applications publicly, fairly and transparently, and publicize the final winners on the bulletin board to accept the supervision by the public. After that without much complaint we will submit the name list of scholarship students to the Provincial Education Department for the final approval.
